Merry Christmas to you...

Joy to the world...
the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her KING!!

We’re reminded afresh this Christmas season of the importance of that Christ centered message & yet for how few worldwide it is true. While decorations may flourish & carols sing, how many... or possibly more correctly, how few actually desire to ‘let earth receive her King’?

What does it mean to receive the Lord of Lords into our world? We’re still learning here & don’t have it all figured out, but the word surrender comes to mind. Our youth have been talking about surrender. It’s a powerful word with a powerful message. It’s when we:
-realize that making Jesus King overall means realizing His ways & His plans are best.
-trust that He knows what He’s doing & orchestrating in our lives.
-trust that only in & through Him will we find peace & real joy!
That trust gives us a responsibility & hopefully a desire to read His Word; so that we will know what His will is. Understanding that His Word, the Bible, is living & active & can speak into our lives & the situations we face. It’s relevant and offers Truth... years ago when it was written, today & all the years to come.

So, as we sing that song & others like it, may we realize the choice to be made. Can we set aside the ‘clutter’ of Christmas that can be so commercial, self-centered & distracting? Can we celebrate, enjoy friendships & family... with Jesus as our focus? Can we ask JESUS to reign afresh in our lives, our thoughts, our relationships, our spending, our all... so that we can receive our KING. It starts with us & has that ripple effect. As we share God’s work in our personal lives with friends, family & those God brings across our path, that message of hope & life impacts others. We’re His plan...

We are thankful for you, your encouragement & prayer support, May God bless you richly as you see to seek to serve Him in 2012!

It's been a busy year for the Kirk household... previous posts will give some of the details. We look forward to sharing special family time with our kids & grandkids. The Grays (Marcy, Kelly, Tyler & Nathan) arrive Christmas Eve for a few days. Then Ken, Corrie & Simpson arrive Boxing Day & the whole Kirk/Gray bunch will be together for a couple of days. Then the Grays leave & the Kirk Jrs stay with us for a few more days. I love that type of happening where we can enjoy each family grouping alone & all together. It makes for one happy grandma!!

It's been a year of much travel which seems to continue into the new year. Already on the calendar is a trip to Detroit to see mom & Break Forth in Edmonton in January, an LBC staff team mission trip to Mexico City in April, a ladies retreat in Herschel, SK in May... what a blessing to serve & worship God in so many different cultures, countries & provinces. May His light & love shine in & through us! May we each get to know our Saviour more this year & more fully embrace His love, power & plans!
