As the camp season rolls around again, applications begin to come in & talk starts... or maybe continues staff to staff, camper to camper, staff to camper. Talk that's caring & encouraging & challenging & real. Youth don't sugar coat their thoughts. They tell it like it is. The application asks tough questions. Questions that make us think again... how is it going? Me & God? This camp director is humbled & honoured as staff choose to return... to serve & minister to a bunch of kids. Kids who will probably cause them to loose a bit of sleep. We'll work hard to see who can tire who out first. The games, chapel times, skills, late nites so special... what memories. I'm blessed to hear staff eager to share the love of Jesus with those so in need. Ministry... giving of ourselves to be used by the King of Kings. When that heart attitude is really caught, other professions can seem a bit dull & even boring. How can they compete with introducing people to their Saviour... changng their eternal destiny? Earning less money, but having lives overflowing with blessing. People don't always decide to enter ministry, it's more like they can't stop themselves from responding to God's call & prompting... nothing else seems to make sense. So, I used to think camp was all about the camper, now I'm not so sure. That's part of it, but camp also provides a fertile training ground to train leaders & help them see & reach their potential for God. It's exciting to anticipate doing what we know we cannot accomplish on our own, but with Him & through Him ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! That's the excitement of minstry... stepping forward with confidence to do wayyyyy more than we know we can. Knowing we're not alone...that it's Jesus who fills, empowers & equips us to do His work & that's so very exciting!!
