Beginning of a new year... 2010!

A new year seems to bring with it reflection... vision casting... dreaming & planning. Where have we been... has our focus brought success? Where do we want to go, focus, plan & trust God to direct as we look to Him to guide our steps? Big questions, but then there's confidence building verses like: Jeremiah 29:11. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future!" Those are such strong & powerful words of promise. God wants us to know His plan with assurance & confidence as we take our new year's steps. He want to share those thoughts with us; even more than we want to know them.

As we begin this year, the words that came to me (& trust me, I was expecting a Bible verse here...) were: Be bold, Be blunt, Be real. Interesting, I thought... considering I think I'm pretty blunt, bold & real already. But I do like that thought & think we can be all those words depict wrapped in the love of Jesus. Be bold... because the message of hope & Truth is not obvious anymore. Be blunt... because there's no easy way to get into some of these topics. Be real... because transparency is an amazing characteristic. It doesn't convey a life that already has it 'all together', but rather one that is keeping on... keeping on like all those choosing God's will & His ways.

So, while my new year still holds some question marks in my thinking. There's no question mark from God's perspective. I serve a God who is mighty to save & mighty to keep & simply mighty in everyway imaginable... as well as those my mind can't easily wrap around. So, my prayer continues to be: to be effective in my time & resources & to make a difference in my communities and around the world. I'm learning, expecting & will keep you posted. May the God of the universe, who created heavens & earth and everything in between guide you in your 2010 decisions as you look to Him to know best.
