Soul's Harbour Rescue Mission...

Mid-January, the District Women’s Leadership team toured and served supper at Soul’s Harbour Rescue Mission in Regina. The tour of buildings and ministries took about 2 ½ hours. Travelling among buildings, we heard accounts of God’s work in bringing current ministries together and plans for expansion of facilities, ministries and lives helped in real and practical ways. The mission offered addiction programs, shelters, training, Biblical teaching, food, clothing, friendship and a church family… the day care & youth centre are scheduled to begin in February. I was impressed, amazed and humbled.

Throughout the tour, my heart was touched to hear success stories of several who have recovered from addictions, are living well and strong and giving back to the program by helping others. Each gave praise to God for His help in their recovery. We saw volunteers throughout the day who have been offering help for many years. Each shared with humility and enthusiasm the blessing that comes with serving others.

Matthew 25:30 “In as much as you have done it to the least of these my brothers, you have done it to me.” …Jesus said that

So, what now… as I drive the 5 hours back to my hometown? I don’t want to put this experience on the ‘shelf’ so to speak and remember it fondly. I want to grow in serving Jesus…seeing others through His eyes… helping those in need from our communities, provinces and worldwide. It is my desire to make a difference and share this information and opportunity with others in my network and church who may want to do the same. Maybe there will be opportunities for us to serve together. When justice and mercy seem so close to the heart of our Saviour, can our response be any less? Jeremiah 29:23-24 Psalm 140:12
