Breakforth Edmonton 2010

Friends of ours have attended Breakforth Edmonton for years, but this was our first time being part of that happening. We felt blessed, challenged, encouraged, worshipful & reconnected to friends & in our relationship with God. Ed & I arrived Thursday evening & shared a meal with a long time friend whose wife went to be with Jesus this past November. We shared memory after memory in healing & love. Friday, registration at the Shaw Centre began early & then we were off... each to our seperate area of interest: Ed to leadership & me to youth with Duffy Robbins. A full day sitting under Godly teaching... sharing real happenings & sensing realistic approaches to life & ministry... wow! Lunch together where teachings were shared; then back to the classroom. So very good! Friday evening Breakforth officially began... Packed into our weekend were speakers like: Lee Strobel, Anne Graham Lotz, Frank Peretti, Joel Rosenberg & Francis Chan... concerts filled our eveings: Michael W. Smith and the Newsboys. It was truly an amazing weekend for us to share as a couple, with friends from our first church & with God who longs to get our attention & encourage our hearts. Time set aside & focused on growth & renewal.

I'm in a processing stage at the moment... determining how best to use the information received. Our next youth group will include some... Duffy gave us practical steps where we and our youth can determine where we are spiritually... on which step of spiritual growth. Do you realize that most youth today are at the stage where they will tolerate spiritual growth; as long as there's food afterwards. What message that delivers seems more than a bit boring. A funnel system of the stages provides insights & asks the question: are we pleased with being 'there'? Do we want to grow in our spiritual life? Do we know how to take the next step? Review, reflect, contemplate, pray, share, stir hearts, challenge; realizing again that my only message to share is what God is currently doing in me & my life & my relationship with HIM!! amen?
