Simpson Hunter Kirk arrived nearly a month early, May 13th... a beautiful baby boy who won our hearts. The LBC staff team came together well & stronger in life & faith than I've experienced before. They played, served & ministered 24/7 rain or shine & made us proud again & again. I'm sure God smiled at their efforts...
We hosted 5 camp school days in June... then a Jamboree complete with Matt Dominguez (former SK Roughrider) sharing some of his God life story & a pig roast. Elaine Duchesne joined us for the day to calm my heart & share in music with other guest musicians. Marcy & Tyler served snacks & slurpees from the Tuck Shop. Kelly was part of the supervision team & Nathan enjoyed the day wearing his green Roughrider t-shirt. Six weeks of camp in July-August. Then a laser tag birthday party... so fun!! There seems much potential to grow the pre & post camp season. Tyler (15) & Nathan (12) each attended a camp week, then Tyler stayed on to work a camp week in the dishpit. Much fun to have family close by. Marcy served as camp nurse for one day two camp weeks.
Then last Sunday, we headed to Nipawin for Simpson's dedication. Corrie wrote: Today we celebrated the GIFT of Simpson... A gift that we are neither deserving of or entitled to... He is a blessing from God... on loan really... and today we dedicated our beautiful son.
So, we are thankful for the gift of Simpson, family we love, & the campers, family & staff who grew this summer in their relationship with God. May we each continue to grow in knowing Jesus more & daily choose to follow Him in obedience.
Looking ahead... I've been invited to travel with a group of women's ministry leaders from across Canada to the country of Laos. At first I could think of lots of reasons that I should not consider such a trip; one being the expense. God challenged me afresh that He is a big God & that money alone should not cast a deciding vote. So, I opened the 'door' of possibility. I've been saving my church cleaning money & money earned in extra ways & God is surprising me with His creativity. We travel the end of November & will be focusing on the area of a recent project to women & girls who have been tricked, trafficked & now are being treasured. I anticipate God using this experience & the women I will be travelling with to change me & enlarge my spiritual world vision. That thought excites me. Just prior to the trip, Ed & I will do our usual Mexico trek... this time to Cancun where Ken & Corrie will join us for 10 days with beautiful baby boy, who will then be about 6 months. Tropics & kids.... blessed with anticipation! Marcy, Kelly & boys are planning a cruise this fall.
Should God bring me... & us to mind, please pray for safety, wisdom, direction & our being open to step boldly with confidence as God directs our steps & journeys. We realize that alone we can do nothing... but prayer unleashes God's power to work & move changing hearts & lives. All praise to HIM!!
